Change from shallow to deep-water environment on an isolated carbonate platform in the Middle Triassic of the Transdanubian Range (Hungary)

The stratigraphic and paleoecologic investigations of the Middle Triassic Kádárta section western part Transdanubian Range (Hungary) let an insight to drowning isolated carbonate platform deposition following pelagic successions in deep neritic bathyal environment. biostratigraphic radiometric ages revealed presence a gap between Pelsonian (Middle Anisian) shallow-marine carbonates overlying deep-water succession, since onset sedimentation was dated as late Illyrian (latest Anisian). This suggests that study area located on relatively high paleotopographic position after break-up Neotethys Pelsonian. Correlation with other localities indicates some sections were either rapidly subsiding blocks (e.g., Klisura – Dinarides, Schreierkogel Northern Calcareous Alps, Baradla Cave Aggtelek-Rudabánya Unit) or more emerged highs (Rid Dinarides). integrated ammonoid conodont biostratigraphy accompanied by UPb provided good opportunity for correlations Ladinian key (Bagolino, Monte San Giorgio, Rio Nigra) from Southern Alps.
